- Stan,
- Fonts, other than the default and SoftSans (if not the default),
- are loaded into a _document_ rather than into the program. I don't know
- of any way to "flush" fonts from a document. I would recommend _not_
- loading any you do not fully expect to use. Thus you might want to have a
- couple of macros/scripts about which load your favorite non-defaults.
- When I open a new document it comes with SoftSerif and SoftSans "loaded".
- I can change the SoftSerif to something else but see no reason to. I'm
- stuck with SoftSans. I have well over 200 fonts, counting the family
- varietions, but wouldn't think of loading more than a couple into any new
- document. How would I choose? SoftSerif will suffice for the bulk of my
- non-critical work even if another might be slightly better. There are a
- dozen families which would work as well and another dozen that sort of
- fit the bill but would be less than optimal for most uses. Three of the
- four members of most families are available at the click of a button or
- two, if any other member of the family is loaded.
- I seldom use sanserif fonts but often use one or another of my
- collection of specialty fonts - like SoftOldE (from Final Copy) and
- Commercial Script from FW. While I seldom use specialties, I seldom use a
- particular specialty. My point is, I guess, that it is a false savings to
- try to load, up front, all the fonts you might need. You can save a lot
- of memory and disk space by only loading what you need for one particular
- document.
